چکیده

This study investigated the effect of seaweed supplementation in dairy cow diets on milk yield, basic composition, and mineral concentrations. Thirty-seven Icelandic cows were split into three diet treatments: control (CON, no seaweed), low (LSW, 0.75% concentrate dry matter (DM), 13–40 g/cow/day), high (HSW, 1.5% DM, 26–158 g/cow/day). Cows fed same basal grass silage for a week, then introduced to assigned experimental 6 weeks. The mix 91% Ascophyllum nodosum: 9% Laminaria digitata (DM basis), feed, samples collected weekly. Data analyzed using linear mixed effects model, with diet, their interaction as fixed factors, ID random factor, pre-treatment week data covariate. When compared CON milk, LSW HSW had, respectively, less Se (−1.4 −3.1 μg/kg milk) more I (+744 +1649 milk), while also had Cu (−11.6 As (+0.17 than milk. minimal changes or concentrations Se, Cu, cannot be associated any consumer nutrition, but care should taken when I-rich is avoid excessive animal supply

Concentrations of toxic heavy metals and trace elements in raw milk of Simmental and Holstein-Friesian cows from organic farm

Concentrations of toxic heavy metals (cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb)) and major nutritional and trace elements (Ca, Mg, P, Cu, Fe, Mn, Se, Zn) were analyzed in the milk of Simmental (n = 20) and Holstein-Friesian (n = 20) cows from an organic farm. Elements were determined using inductively coupled plasma emission atomic spectrometry. The conducted research showed that the milk of Simmental cows was c...

Effect of Dietary Protein Supplementation on Sheep Milk Coagulation Properties

The objectives of this experiment were to evaluate the effects of dietary protein supplementation in lactating dairy ewe’s diets on milk coagulation properties. Milk samples (n=126) were analyzed to assess the source of variation for rennet coagulation ability at the 6th (RCA6) and 12th hour (RCA12), milk clotting time (MCT, s) and an index of milk clotting time (IMCT, %). In addition, data wer...

Effect of mastitis on milk perchlorate concentrations in dairy cows.

Recent surveys have identified the presence of perchlorate, a natural compound and environmental contaminant, in forages and dairy milk. The ingestion of perchlorate is of concern because of its ability to competitively inhibit iodide uptake by the thyroid and to impair synthesis of thyroid hormones. A recent study established that milk perchlorate concentrations in cattle highly correlate with...

Effect of dietary thiamin supplementation on milk production by dairy cows.

We conducted three experiments to determine the effects of dietary thiamin supplementation on milk production by dairy cows. In trial 1, 28 Holstein cows were blocked by parity and assigned randomly to either placebo or thiamin top-dress for the 8-wk experiment to provide a supplemental thiamin intake of 0 or 150 mg/d per cow. Within each of these groups, cows were further assigned randomly to ...
